Applied Analysis integrates ADstudio to expand scope

February 25, 2008 - A troubled economy usually means businesses look for ways to scale back, but one local company is expanding its holdings. Research firm Applied Analysis has acquired Pacific Northwest boutique design firm ADstudio and plans to return it to its Las Vegas roots.

AD was originally a Southern Nevada company, but moved to Spokane, Wash., a few years ago. The studio was a vendor Applied Analysis used for the last five years, said Brian Gordon, an Applied Analysis principal.

"We saw an opportunity to integrate that business into our own," he said. "We expanded our publicity and research material."

The acquisition discussions culminated in the deal announced Feb. 7. The effective date was listed as Feb. 1. The studio's Web site, www.adstudio.net, will become part of Applied Analysis by the end of the quarter. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Applied Analysis principals Gordon and Jeremy Aguero said they recognized the opportunity for the acquisition although the studio wasn't being offered for sale.

"We can expand our scope of services in multiple developments," Gordon said. "The graphic design and Web site that the firm provides is a vital element in what we are doing."

ADstudio's services include print design, display advertising, Web design, brochures and logo design. The studio has national clients in fields including travel, tourism, hospitality and gaming, as well as economic consulting and financial advice.

ADstudio's operation will soon be housed in the Applied Analysis building at 10100 W. Charleston Blvd. Judy and Mauri Pullinen, who operated ADstudio, will lead the new Web development and graphic design department of Applied Analysis. Gordon didn't know yet whether ADstudio will keep its name.

Mauri Pullinen lauded the acquisition.

"Over the years, Applied Analysis became a significant customer for ADstudio and the more closely we worked the more we realized that our firms share the same vision and commitment to quality work," he said in a statement. "These overriding principles are the reason we agreed to join forces with one of the pre-eminent (consulting firms) in Nevada."
