We are soliciting applications for experienced candidates for analyst/consultant roles. Analysts are required to undertake any number of data collection, research, analysis and reporting tasks. Applicants need to be strong critical thinkers with a demonstrated ability to diligently undertake and successfully complete research and analytical projects.

Candidates should be proficient in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word. Applicants should also demonstrate the ability to develop effective PowerPoint presentations that use a mix of quantitative and qualitative content to craft compelling narratives around economic data, trends, and policy topics. Preference will be given to applicants that also have experience in database analysis and geographic information systems (GIS) applications as well as those with analytical experience in one or more of Applied Analysis' core service areas.

Position Overview

Core Responsibilities

• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources
• Update databases and/or internal data tracking reports
• Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Develop creative MS PowerPoint presentations to be shared in public and private forums
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

Skills

• Proven experience as a data analyst, researcher or business consultant
• Significant experience in collecting and analyzing data in Excel
• Proven track record of preparing effective PowerPoint presentations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Adept at report writing and presenting findings
• Attention to detail is a critical skillset

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, economics, finance, mathematics or similar concentrations preferred
• One year of professional experience in consulting, research or related field
• Availability to work in-office full-time

Purpose

• For New Graduates: This program aims to provide recent graduates with increased exposure to professional environments and hands-on experience in their field.
• For Applied Analysis: The internship creates a direct bridge for talented candidates to connect with our firm and explore potential career opportunities.

Position Overview

Duration

The program is designed to be for a finite period, typically lasting between 3 and 5 months. While not guaranteed, we anticipate hosting openings in the spring (January to April), summer (May to September) and fall (August to December).

Compensation

The role is a paid hourly position. Hourly rate is commensurate with similar entry-level roles. Please note that the position does not include benefits such as paid time off and paid holidays.

Requirements

• Must hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics, public policy, finance or a related field.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Applied Analysis typically offers one or two internship opportunities each year for highly motivated undergraduate students interested in economic research, public policy analysis and consulting. Through the internship program, the firm fulfills its commitment to supporting the next generation of economic and policy thinkers who will help shape the future of Nevada and communities throughout the United States.

This position is designed to provide students with meaningful exposure to the professional consulting environment while getting the opportunity to contribute directly to real client projects alongside our firm’s team of experienced analysts.

As an intern analyst, candidates will gain hands-on experience supporting economic, fiscal, and policy research assignments while developing their technical, analytical, communication, and presentation skillsets. Interns are expected to actively participate in project work, contributing to research and analysis efforts, and assisting in the development of written and designed deliverables.

• Support analysts and project teams on active client projects and other research initiatives.
• Assist with data collection and validation, and quantitative analysis using Excel and other analytical tools.
• Conduct economic, demographic, industry and public policy research.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, briefing materials and other client deliverables.
• Assist in developing PowerPoint presentations that communicate economic and policy findings through clear and compelling narratives.
• Participate in internal meetings, project discussions and collaborative problem-solving efforts.
